Musica Ricercata – DiVerdi | Extraordinary Closing Concert | Musica Ricercata Orchestra and Banatul Philharmonic Choir | Conductor: Gabriel Bebeșelea

April 11 @ 19:00 - 21:00

As part of the conference “Verdi – The Science of Vocal Art”, interspersed with demonstrative artistic moments, we explore what concert pitch means and why composers such as Giuseppe Verdi were concerned with orchestral tuning. Starting at 19:00, we will discover the difference between the 432 Hz frequency—often associated with the so-called “Verdi pitch”—and today’s standard of 440 Hz, as well as the historical efforts through which Verdi advocated for establishing a lower concert pitch in order to protect singers’ voices and maintain the sonic balance of ensembles.
After this introduction—during which concepts such as note, frequency, tuning, and sound vibration are explained and demonstrated—we will listen, starting at 20:00, to the extraordinary “DiVERDI” concert, featuring selections from the operas of the great Italian composer.
Performed by the Musica Ricercata Orchestra and the Choir of the Banatul Philharmonic Timișoara.Conductor: Gabriel BebeșeleaAssistant conductor: Radu Zaharia
